Due to the firing of live and imitation weapons on our firearms for film experience Gun Rush, as a condition of booking you are required to produce a valid 'Basic' DBS Certificate in order for your booking to be secured.

If you are applying for our performer agency we also require you to possess a valid DBS Certificate.

What is a DBS Certificate?

A DBS check is a record of a person’s criminal convictions and cautions, carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service. We require a 'Basic' level DBS Certificate not a Standard or Enhanced level.

It’s an essential requirement for those applying for Gun Rush and any performer on our Agency books.

Why do I need a DBS Certificate for Gun Rush and your Agency?

Gun Rush teaches live firing and full use of imitation weapons, which are very close to the real thing. Safety is paramount and it is essential for every attendee to be criminal checked to ensure the highest level of safety and security.

If you're applying to our Agency a DBS Certificate as an added level of security when working on set. All productions require performers to have valid DBS Certificates.

How do apply for a Basic DBS Certificate?

You will need to apply for a Basic DBS Certificate. If you are a permanent resident in the UK, you can apply here. There are lots of companies offering DBS checks and a fully approved list can be found here.

If you are a resident of another country, you will need to contact your government in the country you permanently reside in, to ask how you apply for a criminal check.

The approved list of companies offering DBS checks may contain UK agents that can perform DBS checks on non-UK citizens, however, you will need to do your own research. We are unable to recommend any company offering this service.

How much does it cost?

A Basic DBS Certificate costs approx. £25.00 through the government website. Every company may charge a different amount.

How long does it take to come through?

Depending on the company you use, getting your DBS Certificate through can take anything from 1 week to 2 months. Through the government website, they state up to 14 days. We will be unable to accept anyone onto Gun Rush or our Agency books until you have your certificate through.

It's important to be organised and get your certificate through before you apply for the course or our Agency.

What happens when I get my certificate through?

Once you receive your DBS Certificate, you will need to scan a copy over to us, in order to secure your place and attend Gun Rush and/or join our Agency.

We can take payment for your Gun Rush booking at anytime but you must provide proof of your DBS Certificate before you attend.

Please send a scanned copy of your DBS Certificate to info@britishactionacademy.com

Does the DBS Certificate expire?

Effectively your certificate won't expire however, as the checks include any 'current' information, we require DBS Certificates to be renewed every 2 years.

What happens if I don't get my DBS Certificate through before Gun Rush?

Although payment secures your place on Gun Rush, your booking is not 100% confirmed until you have provided us with a copy of your current DBS Certificate. We will be unable to let you attend Gun Rush without this.

The DBS Certificate requirement is in our booking terms and conditions you sign upon purchase of your place, so you are agreeing to these terms. If you cannot produce a valid DBS Certificate in time for Gun Rush, we reserve the right to cancel your place. Please see our booking terms and conditions for further information.

If you have any questions about our DBS terms for Gun Rush or for our Performers Agency, please contact us on info@britishactionacademy.com and we will be more than happy to help.
