Top 5 Winners At The Emmys 2018

Last night was Emmy night, and America celebrated the best that television has to offer. From Westworld to This Is Us, all the stores gathered to see who would come home victorious. Here we look back over the night and pick out the Top 5 winners from the 70th Prime Time Emmy Awards.

5. Thandie Newton

Thandie got rewarded for her amazing portrayal of Maeve on Westworld. She picked up the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series. Beatin off the likes of Vanessa Kirby, Lena Kirby and Millie Bobby Brown. Thandie topped the night off in style by dropping the f-bomb.

4. Game Of Thrones

It was an odd one for Game Of Thrones as they haven't actually been on air in 2018, but due to their release schedule they weren't eligible for last years awards. It didn't stop them though as they picked up Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series for Peter Dinklage, and Outstanding Drama Series. I've got a feeling that next year might be a bumper year for them!

3. Barry

Bill Hader had a strong showing with his comedy series Barry. Hader himself picking up Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series, and Henry Winkler picking up Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series. A show about an ex-marine turned low-rent hitman, it wasn't a show on my radar, but I will definitely be checking it out now.

2. American Crime Story - The Assassination Of Gianni Versace

Following on from last years series based on the trial of O.J. Simpson, this anthology show emerged as one of the big winners last night. Winning Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Directing Of A Limited Series for Ryan Murphy, and Outstanding Lead Actor in a limited series for star Darren Criss. As well as four Creative Emmy's.

1. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

The big story of the night was The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Amy Sherman-Palladino's show cleaned up on the night, netting the Gilmour Girl creator her first Emmy's for writing and directing the Pilot. Star Alex Borstein also won Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series, whilst the show walked away with Outstanding Comedy Series. It capped off an impressive run after last weeks Creative Emmy's with the show netting a total of 8 awards.

It was certainly an interesting year, complete with upsets, and even an onstage proposal. Of course, what we would love to see is more prominence given to the stunt actors and co-ordinators of these shows. What do you think?
